During his time at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, Dr. Horn graduated in the top 10% of his class, earning him a position in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society. Once he completed his first year of medical school, he was granted a scholarship from the United States Air Force and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. During his time in the Air Force, Dr. Horn completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. Upon completing his training, he served 3 winters at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, where he earned the rank of Major and was the Chief of Orthopedics. In 1997, Dr. Horn returned to his hometown of Baytown, Texas and began offering his services to residents from all around the Gulf Coast through the Fondren Group.
